Blue Toon TV seeking new production assistant

BlueToon TV has been running since 2007 providing a range of audio and video services to Peterhead FC and the quality of output is recognised as amongst the best outside the Scottish Premiership.


Many great occasions have been captured on film including the 9-2 demolition of Berwick Rangers, welcoming Celtic to Balmoor in the Scottish Cup, hosting Rangers first game in the 3rd Division and last season’s presentation of the League 2 Championship trophy.


Peterhead Football Club is looking for someone to join BTTV as a production assistant with a view to continuing the development of this important element in promoting the club.


This represents a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to be involved in the local community and support grass roots football.


The Person


Thtype of person best suited to the role will have the following qualities:

  • A good balance between creative and technical skills is idealyou must be comfortable getting to grips with developments in video technology and editing software

  • An interest and enthusiasm in the video production process

  • Patience, a relatively steady hand and an eye for detail

  • Eager to learn and to experiment with new ideas




The role involves coordinating the following tasks:

  • Filming Peterhead FC matches

  • Filming post-match interviews with team managers & players

  • Editing and uploading post-match interviews to the BlueToon TV YouTube page

  • Editing and uploading match highlights for the SPFL and uploading to their DropBox

  • Editing and uploading match highlights for the BTTV YouTube page

  • Editing and uploading a password protected copy of the full 90 minutes for the Manager to review

  • Updating the PFC website with links to video content

  • Receiving audio interviews from radio stations, preparing and uploading to the BlueToon TV YouTube channel

  • Prepare an audio version of post-match content and send to local radio (currently Northsound only)

  • Maintaining the @BlueToonTV Twitter account




Training and support will be provided by the existing BTTV team. It is essential that you have a good level of competence in working with technology. In addition, the following experience is desirable but not essential to carrying out the role:

  • Good level of computer skills

  • Some experience of filming and editing would be beneficial

  • Familiarity with uploading content to YouTube would be beneficial

  • Experience with editing audio files would be beneficial

  • Experience with Adobe products such as Photoshop and Premiere would be beneficial

  • Familiarity with audio/video compression formats 


Additional Information 


It is important to consider the time commitment required to deliver the BTTV service. Once familiar with the workflow, 8 - 10 hours will be required after every match to produce the final materials, upload themand update the various websites/ social media.


A recent feature added to the BTTV service is the voiceover. This is a time consuming part of the work.


There are no longer any time constraints imposed by the SPFL on when highlight videos can be published on Club websitesBTTV currently aims to make the PFC match highlights available as soon as practically possible after the game – and is amongst the 1st clubs to publish the match highlights during a normal weekend.
