Peterhead defender Mick Dunlop has joined Ayrshire Junior side Hurlford on loan until the end of the season.

Dunlop had played for Ayr United, Queen’s Park, Dumbarton, Alloa, Brechin, Stranraer, Albion Rovers and Stenhousemuir before joining the Blue Toon in the summer of 2018.

The centre back was a regular as the Balmoor side lifted the League 2 title however in this campaign he had not featured since October before playing against Falkirk last weekend.

Dunlop had asked Balmoor manager Jim McInally for a move as a change in work commitments has made it difficult for him to head north for training and games.

McInally said: “Mick has only been with us for 18 months but he picked up a league winners’ medal during that time. There has been a change to his work away from football and we would not have seen much of him between now and May. It is better than he plays at a club that he can combine his life outside of football with and he will do that at Hurlford.”
