Get to the Game - Peterhead versus Falkirk, Balmoor Stadium, Saturday, January 11 - 3.00pm

Fri 10 Jan 2020

Peterhead face a title-chasing team for the second week running with Falkirk pitching up at Balmoor. Unlike the first meeting between the teams in the north-east this season, which ended in a goalless draw back in August, the Bairns have former home favourite David McCracken in their dug-out alongside Lee Miller with the duo recently appointed as permanent co-managers to replace Ray McKinnon who departed in November.

Blue Toon manager Jim McInally is hoping that lessons have been learned from last weekend's 2-1 defeat from league leaders Raith Rovers, who sit three points ahead of third placed Falkirk, as he explained: "When part-time teams play full time sides they have to be on their game throughout to have any chance of gaining a positive result. Full time players tend to do things quicker and sharper and that needs to be matched for 90 minutes. We matched them in the first game however down at their place in the second Falkirk were better than us and won 4-0 in a game they dominated."

"We need to play well to get anything and we cannot repeat the defensive mistakes that cost us two goals at Raith Rovers. We were heavily punished at Stark's Park for errors and Falkirk will punish us just as hard if we repeat them. It is a game where concentration for the full 90 minutes is required."

Andrew McCarthy will be added to the Blue Toon's plans if the paperwork on his move from Queen of the South is completed in time with Jim saying: "Everything is agreed and it is just a case of ourselves, Queen of the South and the Scottish FA getting things over the line. He wll be a good addition to our squad and he will enjoy being here as he has a platform to get established in the game."

"Andrew has trained with the squad and fitted in well. Hopefully we will get him registered in time and he can be part of our squad."

The Balmoor hosts are missing the banned Simon Ferry as well as the injured Paddy Boyle however Gary Fraser is set to return after a rib injury.
