Manager has 2020 vision for Rory

Fri 27 Dec 2019

Peterhead manager Jim McInally has praised striker Rory McAllister despite the ace marksman finding goals hard to come by in 2019

McAllister, who has bagged more than 200 goals for the Blue Toon since joining in 2011 has only found the net from open play in one game in this campaign with his four goals in total meaning that his total in 2019 is nine.

McInally reckons that 2020 will be better for the attacker as he explained: “2019 has not been a vintage year for Rory. One of the reasons for that is an ankle problem which flares up quite often and will require surgery at some point.”

“Rather than take time out and get it done Rory is playing with a bit of discomfort. It is one of these problems that if you are scoring and feeling good about yourself then it is not be an issue. However, when your confidence is low it becomes an annoyance.”

McInally added: “Rory has also changed the way he plays and does a lot more unselfish work than he used to. That allows him to set up more goals than in previous years.”

“It would be great if he could score against Clyde this weekend and finish the year on a high. If not 2020 is just around the corner and that will be a better year for him, I am sure.”
