Jim Bentley’s switch from being the manager of English League Two side Morecombe to the boss of Vanarama National League club AFC Fylde means that Peterhead manager Jim McInally is now the second longest serving manager in the United Kingdom.

McInally who has been in charge at Balmoor for 8 years and 35 days moved up the ranks when Bentley, who has been replaced by former Ross County manager Derek Adams, resigned from the position he took up six months before McInally moved to Balmoor.

The Blue Toon manager is now second in long service to Crusaders boss Stephen Baxter who has been in charge at Seaview since February 14 2005.

McInally was pleased that Saturday’s 2-1 win at Clyde marked his elevation in the best possible way as he explained: “Some of our play in the first half at Broadwood was absolutely fantastic. It was up there with anything I have seen from a Peterhead team before. It was not a great surprise as I have seen our quality improve week on week at training.”
