Midfielder reckons victory over Raith can be a turning point

Peterhead midfielder Jack Leitch believes the Blue Toon’s win over Raith Rovers can be the catalyst for a resurgence in form.

The Balmoor team produced an impressive performance to defeat the Kirkcaldy club 2-0 and end a four-match losing streak.

Leitch, who netted one of the goals, hopes the victory and display will be a turning point in their League 1 season.

Leitch said: “That performance was coming because it was not as if we were playing badly before that.”

“We were just conceding silly goals, which were costing us like at Dumbarton recently.”

“We played well against them and created so many chances to score in the first half but we did not take any of them and ended up losing 1-0.”

“But hopefully the Raith win is a turning point for us and we look forward to Clyde on Saturday.”

Last week’s win saw Leitch make a third consecutive start for the Blue Toon after an ankle problem, which sidelined the 24 year old for a month.

The former Airdrie player picked up the injury against Raith in mid September but made a quicker than expected return to action.

Leitch said: “It has been a very stop-start season for me after being out injured with my ankle and then coming back.”

“But that is me back to full fitness now so it feels good to be back scoring and helping the team.”
