Peterhead visit the C&G Systems Stadium on Saturday to take on Dumbarton in League 1.

The Blue Toon will look to atone for their last meeting with the Sons when they threw away a two-goal lead at Balmoor in August.

Goals from Gary Fraser and Jason Brown put the Buchan team in command but Jim Duffy’s men rallied and after getting back to all square, Isaac Layne scored a 79th minute winner.

Peterhead will travel to the central belt with a near full-strength squad, although Simon Ferry remains a big doubt with a groin injury.

Despite his importance to the team, assistant manager Davie Nicholls is adamant the midfielder will not be risked if he is not fully fit.

Nicholls said: “Simon is a vital cog in our team and plays his role fantastically well.”

“He is almost a shield for the back four and gives us an extra player defensively but he also contributes going forward and he is a great talker.”

“It is important we get Simon as fit as we can.  He is coming back from a groin injury and he did some training this week so we will see how he is.”

“But we need to make sure he is right because the last thing we want is for him to play when he is not ready and we end up losing him for four weeks.”
