Peterhead manager Jim McInally believes his men have shown they can compete at League 1 level following the completion of the season’s first quarter.

The Blue Toon visit Falkirk this weekend off the back of two consecutive defeats but McInally has taken encouragement from what he has seen so far.

McInally said: “Apart from the Raith Rovers game when we got a bit of a hiding, we have done well in the rest of the games.”

“We know what we have got to do at this level.”

“We know the teams that we are really competing with because I don’t think you can compete with the three full-time teams over the course of a season.”

The Balmoor boss added: “Hopefully we have learned lessons and we know that that you don’t get away with as much as last season.”

“That is something we need to be wary of.”
