Injured midfielder likely to miss six weeks

Peterhead have suffered an injury blow ahead of Clyde’s League 1 visit with Jack Leitch unlikely to return until November.

The former Airdrie midfielder tore ankle ligaments during a training session on Tuesday and is expected to miss around six weeks of action.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally said:  “It was just a simple training accident.”

“Jack tried to turn and he rolled his ankle, tearing the ligaments.”

“He went to hospital yesterday and he was told he will be out for at least six weeks.”

“It is certainly a blow but it is an area of the park where we are not too bad off and I feel Ryan Conroy is at a stage where is ready to come in and play.”

“Ryan is short of game-time but he is an experienced player, who knows how to look after himself, and Jack’s unfortunate injury gives him an opportunity.”
