Defender wants another win ahead of free weekend

Peterhead defender Mick Dunlop is determined the Blue Toon go into the international break with a win at Stranraer.

Jim McInally’s men have a free weekend coming up after exiting the Challenge Cup earlier this month.

Mustering five points from four fixtures so far, Dunlop believes Peterhead have made a solid start to League 1,

The Balmoor men claimed their first victory last Saturday by narrowly beating Forfar, a result Dunlop claims will give them confidence for the trip to Stair Park.

Dunlop said: “Every single game is difficult in its own right.”

“Stranraer will go into the game off the back of a loss but the weekend before they had a great result against Raith.”

“We are under no illusions that it is going to be a tough one so we have got to approach it in the right manner.”

“If we play like we can, hopefully we can pick up another three points and that would take us into the break with a good points total so far.”

Dunlop has marshalled the defence to two clean sheets in the SPFL’s third tier so far, with the former Stenhousemuir player admitting the only blemish came against Dumbarton when they threw away a two-goal lead.

The 35 year old said: “We are up a league now and if you make mistakes you are more likely to get punished so it is a bit of a learning curve.”

“It was obviously really disappointing against Dumbarton but outwith that, I think we picked up a really good point against Falkirk and then we had a battling draw with East Fife.”
