PETERHEAD 0-2 ABERDEEN

Peterhead blooded new signing Gary Fraser as Aberdeen won 2-0 in front of more than 2,000 supporters at Balmoor.

25 year old Fraser, formerly of Cowdenbeath, was introduced as a first-half substitute after agreeing a season-long contract with the Blue Toon.

Assistant manager Davie Nicholls said: “We managed to get the deal done on Sunday and while Gary is short of match practice, he likes to get on the ball and play.”

“That is the type of player we like to bring to the football club, guys who can create things.”

A free-flowing friendly saw both sides having sights at goal before Aberdeen made the breakthrough in the 37th minute.

Scott Wright burst through the centre of the home defence and squared for Sam Cosgrove and although Greg Fleming got a hand on his 12 yard shot, he could not keep the striker’s effort out.

Neat interplay carved out the Dons’ second in the 70th minute.  Ryan Hedges linked with Cosgrove at the edge of the penalty area before setting up Shay Logan, whose first-time effort flew into the opposite corner.

Lewis Ferguson then curled a 25 yard free-kick off the crossbar as both sets of players continued their build-up to competitive action.
