PETERHEAD WIN LEAGUE 2 WITH A SEASON-ENDING 2-0 VICTORY AGAINST QUEEN’S PARK AT HAMPDEN

BLUE TOON MANAGER JIM McINALLY:

“We are delighted and what pleases us is that we have won it by five points otherwise we would have had stuff thrown at us about the four points that Clyde lost.”

“That was always in the back of my mind and that was what hurt me so much last week the fact that we spilled those two points and people would say we did not win it fairly.”

“Great credit to Clyde, who had a fantastic points total as well, and if there is any justice in football they will win the play-offs and come up with us.”

“You would not believe how much a relief this is after last Saturday because that was as bad as it gets.”

“I know everybody says it is great to win it at the national stadium but I would rather have done it in front of our supporters last week, although we did have a fantastic support down at Hampden.”

“Again, great credit to the players because they would have felt every bit as bad as me last week and they bounced back with a performance and they were really professional.”

“I really was just blinkered about getting us back up again and hopefully it eradicates the relegation of two years ago, which always rankles.”

“League 1 is where our club should be and we will see where we go from here.”

“I don’t know where this ranks because it has been torture.  I cannot lie, it has been torture.”

“Last year we got 76 points and we got nothing and this season it has taken 79 points, which is remarkable.”

“It has been a tough, tough league so the players have shown great consistency and they deserve all the credit.”
