Post-match reaction

Blue Toon manager Jim McInally:

“I actually did not speak in the dressing room because I was that angry.”

“We have missed two absolute snips, which would have given us a bit of breathing space to maybe enjoy it or be able to get the ball down and play.”

“We ended up bringing pressure on ourselves, not in open play but by giving away free-kicks.”

“We had the situation near the end where Greg makes the save from the free-kick and how their player headered it over the bar from there is hard to know.”

“There were three real sitters in that game and there was certainly a nervousness when we were only one goal ahead so it was a good result but not a good performance.”

“It was the three top against the three bottom and every team has something to play for because Cowdenbeath coming into this game were not mathematically safe.”

“I know they are pretty safe but you knew they would come up here thinking they had to go and get a result because they have not been on the best of runs.”

“But for us the result was more important than the performance and the pleasing thing is we move on to a big game next week where the pressure really is not on us so much.”

Cowdenbeath manager Gary Bollan:

“We caused Peterhead problems throughout the game and restricted them to very few chances.”

“Our goalkeeper has not had too many saves to makes and normally when you come up here, your goalie has to work hard.”

“At stages in the game we looked really threatening and a thorn in their side but we conceded the first goal when their goalkeeper launches the ball up the pitch.”

“It is criminal defending and that is what has been costing us in the last few weeks.”

“But I was looking for a performance, a good attitude, hunger and desire as well as urgency.”

“We did not have that against Albion Rovers on Tuesday but we certainly had that here and I cannot praise the lads highly enough for how they performed.”
