Lets keep ticking the games off, states Blue Toon striker

The old adage from the old head, Derek Lyle insisting it is one game at a time for Peterhead.

The League 2 leaders are five points clear after an impressive run of results but the 38 year old striker says they need not look further than their next match.

That happens to be against second-bottom Berwick at Shielfield Park where the Blue Toon won 5-0 earlier in the season.

Lyle said: “They are all massive games from here on in but we are just looking to keep ticking them off, one at a time.”

“If we can continue doing that then it will not matter what the other teams do.”

“I think we have got a really good squad, which in my opinion would be competitive in the next league above if you look at the quality of our players.”

“We are showing a real togetherness and I think you can see that out on the pitch.”

The Blue Toon have won their last six matches to move on to 66 points going into the final part of the season.

Clyde have fallen out of the title race after their four point deduction for fielding an ineligible player but Edinburgh, Peterhead’s opponents next weekend, remain firmly in the hunt.

Boss Jim McInally added: “Edinburgh are still a massive threat but we just need to keep doing what we are doing.”

“There are eight games left and we know how many we need to win.”

“Berwick and Edinburgh away back-to-back are huge games and both of those teams need points for different reasons.”

“But we have a fantastic points total just now and we just have to keep adding to it.”
