Peterhead have the incentive to go top of League 2 with a home win against Cowdenbeath.

The Blue Toon will climb above Edinburgh by two points with a victory over Gary Bollan’s men.

A draw, meanwhile, would move Jim McInally’s side level as the teams prepare to meet twice on consecutive Tuesdays.

McInally said: “Cowdenbeath are always well organised.”

“Gary changes his team a lot so it is quite hard to work out what he is going to do but they will sit in and try to hit us on the break.”

“What an opportunity we have got to get back to the top again and we need to take it, bearing in mind Clyde play Edinburgh next Saturday so our next two games are massive.”

Versatile Jamie Stevenson, who laid on Rory McAllister’s winner at Stirling on Saturday, said:  “I think we have been top twice and the following week we have dropped back down to second.”

“Once we get our noses in front, we need to try and push on and stay there until the end of the season.”

“There is something like 10 weeks to go and we are about to play four games in a short space of time.”

“It is a hard league, especially when you are part-time, but we do have a great squad of players and the manager has the opportunity to freshen the team up for Tuesday.”
