Greg calling for response against Cowdenbeath

Thu 31 Jan 2019

Peterhead goalkeeper Greg Fleming is calling for the Blue Toon to rally and recover from last week’s League 2 setback at Annan.

The Aberdeenshire team head for Cowdenbeath this weekend after a 3-0 defeat on the south west.

The result saw Jim McInally’s men relinquish top spot after Edinburgh shared six goals with Elgin to reclaim their tag as leaders.

Fleming said: “The Cowdenbeath game is massive.”

“When you the get the chance to push on, you have got to take it so it was disappointing we came up short against Annan.”

“We need to bounce back on Saturday.”

Three second half goals ended up in Fleming’s net in a dismal second half showing at the Galabank Stadium.

The former Ayr goalkeeper claimed it was the Blue Toon’s poorest performance of the season and accepted his share of the blame.

Fleming said: “We got what we deserved.”

“It is hard to say what went wrong but Annan were the better team.”

“It was our poorest performance of the season and probably the worst since I have been at the club.”

“It is tough when you lose a game playing like we did against Annan but I cannot criticise everyone else because I still let in three goals.”

“Hopefully it was just a bad day at the office so we need to pick ourselves up and go again on Saturday.”
