We must concentrate on our own games, warns Greg

Goalkeeper Greg Fleming insists Peterhead must stay focused in their pursuit of top spot in League 2.

As the halfway stage of the season approaches, the Blue Toon trail leaders Edinburgh City by five points but they do have a game in hand.

On Saturday, the Balmoor men visit Elgin and Fleming knows they can only apply pressure on their title rivals by concentrating on their own matches.

Fleming said: “Elgin are off the back of a very good win and it is always a tough game against them.”

“They have good players so we know it will be a tough game and that we will need to be up for it to get another three points.”

“We have been doing okay but we just need to keep it going and hope Edinburgh slip up at some stage.”

“Edinburgh are a good team with some really good players so it will be difficult to get ahead of them but if we keep picking up results, who knows what could happen?”

“We still have to play Edinburgh twice and people will say they will be the key games but all the matches are really important.”

For the trip to Borough Briggs, defender Jason Brown will be back from suspension and Paddy Boyle could also return to further strengthen the backline.

The Blue Toon have an impressive record against their former Highland League rivals but boss Jim McInally is wary of Elgin’s threat.

He said: “It is always difficult at Elgin.”

“I would imagine it will be quite an open game because Elgin just play to win and so do we.”
