In Ryan Dow, Peterhead boss Jim McInally is signing a player he not only rates but knows.

The attacking midfielder has joined on loan from Ross County until January.

27 year old Dow, formerly of Dundee Utd, is the son-in-law of the Blue Toon boss and he has opted to drop down two levels in order to kickstart his career.

McInally said: “Ryan had a good pre-season but I think Ross County see him as more of a super-sub type player and I know, feeling as fit as he does, he wanted the opportunity to play.”

“Between Ryan and their management team, they have come to the decision for him to move on rather than sitting about and potentially not featuring until January.”

“The new rules, extending the loan period for League 1 and 2 clubs until the end of this month, gave him the chance to go and play.”

“With knowing him so well, Ryan asked if he could sign for us, which I found a bit surprising considering the level he has played at.”

“But I also think he wants to show people that he is fit and well and is prepared to go and do the graft.”

Ryan will go straight into the squad for Saturday's League 2 trip to Cowdenbeath
