There is a connection between Peterhead and Bohemians as the two teams prepare to do battle in the IRN-BRU Cup.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally scouted for the Dubliners when they faced Aberdeen in the UEFA Cup in 2000,

Bohs ended up going through on the away goals rule so the Balmoor manager may claim to have had some kind of influence.

The focus, however, is on knocking out Keith Long’s men, who have been training at Cove Rangers’ Balmoral Stadium ahead of the second round tie.

Midfielder Simon Ferry said: “This is something totally different but we are looking forward to it.”

“Bohemians are a big club in Ireland so it will be good to play against them and see what the standard is like.”

“We got to the final in the competition not that long ago so it would be nice to go far again.”
