Shades of the 'old' Blue Toon were evident as they crashed to a humiliating defeat at the hands of northern rivals Elgin City in this oft-postponed match.

Peterhead were boosted ahead of the match by Paul Jarvie's recovery from the elbow knock that had forced him off after an inspired performance in the draw against Stranraer a few days previously.

But Jarvie was powerless as his side slumped to their worst defeat of the campaign, and to make matters worse, three of the goals they conceded were own goals.

Dave Ross opened the scoring - at the wrong end - as his back pass caught Jarvie out and trundled over the line.

Paul Millar added a second before further own goals from Rory McAllister and the unfortunate Callum Macdonald put the game beyond reach.

Jamie Redman pulled a goal back with ten minutes remaining, but Brian Cameron and Craig Gunn netted in the dying minutes to complete the rout.
