It is one win apiece for Peterhead and Berwick Rangers as the teams prepare to do battle for a third time in League 2.

Robbie Horn’s charges were 2-0 victors on their last visit to Balmoor in September after scoring twice in the closing stages.

The Blue Toon, however, avenged that defeat by claiming a 3-2 win at Shielfield Park last month, Jack Leitch netting the decisive goal after the Borderers had fought back from two down.

Balmoor assistant manager Davie Nicholls said: “Berwick are a hard side to come up against.”

“They came up to Balmoor earlier in the season and beat us and I think Robbie’s game-plan was to sit in and try to catch us and they certainly did that.”

“We had the bulk of the possession but we just could not capitalise on our chances.”

Nicholls continued: “When we played them a few weeks ago, again it was a tough 90 minutes although we were cruising at 2-0 until we let Berwick back into it.”

“We lost a couple of poor goals but credit to our players for grinding out the win.”

“We just need to be at it on Saturday and we will continue to encourage the boys to keep passing the ball about.”

“It is not about battering it up the park and hoping for the best. We need to play because we have got lots of ball players in our team.”

Team news – Willie Gibson serves a one-match ban and Jamie Stevenson is struggling with a recurrence of a hamstring problem. Mason Robertson is also doubtful.
