Second top visits second bottom on Saturday but Peterhead boss Jim McInally is mindful of Edinburgh’s recent upsurge in form in League 2.

City have won three of their last five fixtures, although they have yet to take points off the Blue Toon this season.

The last time the teams met in the capital, Peterhead triumphed 3-0 and it was a similar score at Balmoor after James McDonaugh’s men were reduced to 10 men.

McInally said: “When Edinburgh came up to Balmoor a couple of months ago, it was a terrific first half and an end-to-end game.”

“When they lost a man just after half time, the game ended up being a lot more comfortable than it would have been had it stayed 11 versus 11.”

“We knew they had improved when we played them on that day and they have improved further since, adding more bodies to their squad.”

“Our players need to be ready for a tough game on Saturday.”

Team news

Willie Gibson, whose ankle had to be stitched up at half time last week, is doubtful while Jamie Stevenson is rated 50/50 as he nurses a hamstring strain.

Mason Robertson and Paul Cairney remain out and Simon Ferry will not be risked on the artificial surface.

The deal to sign Chris Johnston on loan could be pushed through in time for the Dumbarton winger to be included in the squad.
