POST-MATCH THOUGHTS

PETERHEAD MANAGER JIM McINALLY:

“That is two Saturdays on the trot that we have switched off and it has cost us.”

“Last week against Clyde, it was a long throw-in and this time, after stopping the initial free-kick, it was the second ball that we did not deal with.”

“The players know whose man it was and that was what killed us but I have just told them that they need to learn to draw games.”

“I think we have had one draw all season but overall I thought we controlled the game pretty well and played some decent stuff.”

“In the second half, I was thinking that if we walk away with a 0-0, it would not be the worst because I could see the players’ legs tiring.”

“We had a long journey to Berwick on Tuesday after playing on Clyde’s astroturf last week but there are no excuses because we played okay.”

MONTROSE MANAGER STEWART PETRIE:

“It is three points, that is all it is, but I am obviously delighted because this is a difficult venue to come to.”

“In the last two games against Peterhead, we have certainly been outfoxed by Jim and his team. We were lucky to get a point the last time we were up here and we were well beaten at home.”

“This result was never going to be pivotal to determine who is going to be promoted or in the play-offs or whatever else.”

“There are lots of points still to be won between now and the end of the season but this is certainly a big win for us.”
