Peterhead have an early chance to atone for their League 2 defeat to Clyde when they travel to Berwick on Tuesday.

David Goodwillie’s late strike at Broadwood saw the Blue Toon’s winning run grind to a halt.

But the Aberdeenshire side remain firmly in the hunt for promotion and victory at Shielfield Park in one of their three games in hand on leaders Montrose would reduce the gap to one point once more.

That had been the margin prior to the weekend’s games but Peterhead’s loss coupled with Montrose’s win over Stirling saw the Gable Endies stretch ahead.

The teams are due to meet in a top of the table clash at Balmoor this Saturday but Jim McInally’s men, who have Simon Ferry back available, will be looking no further than their trip to Berwick, who won 2-0 when the teams last met in September.

Robbie Horn’s charges will be buoyed by their 3-1 success at Cowdenbeath in their last outing, a result which ended their five-game barren run.
