SCOTTISH CUP THIRD ROUND

PETERHEAD 3-0 RAITH ROVERS

After-match thoughts

Peterhead manager Jim McInally:

“I was a bit concerned at half time because we had the best of the conditions and had not scored, despite playing well.”

“We put Raith under a lot of pressure but Greg Fleming made an important save for us at the start of the second half and we never looked back from that.”

“We were excellent and Russell McLean and Rory McAllister were a real handful up front.”

“They were strong, quick and defended from the front and generally I thought the team played with a lot of energy.”

“Raith had key players missing and I knew we could take advantage of that so I am delighted.”

“They are full-time and we are part-time and I don’t think you saw that during the match.”

Raith Rovers manager Barry Smith:

“It has been a horrible week but we will learn from it and get better.”

“We went into this match minus four or five regular first-team players so the squad was very depleted.”

“But, by the same token, we expect better coming to Peterhead.”

“We had a good chance early in the second half and had we taken that, I think we would have gone on and won.”

“But credit to Peterhead and I don’t want to take anything away from them because I thought they were very good on the day and used the conditions better than what we did.”
