Jim McInally has admitted he is still brushing up on his knowledge on Edinburgh City - but the Peterhead manager is well aware of their dangerman Karim Belmokhtar.

The French-Algerian striker had a trial with the Blue Toon in July and last week, he netted twice on his debut for the capital club in their victory against Clyde.

Saturday's League 2 fixture on the artificial Ainslie Park, the home of Spartans, will be a first ever meeting of the teams.

McInally said: "Edinburgh are a side I do not know an awful lot about."

"I had someone watching them last Saturday and my scout told me they were pretty ruthless because they had three efforts on target and scored three goals."

"They have got a French-Algerian striker, who scored a couple of terrific goals against Clyde. I saw them both online this week."

"He is actually I boy I know because he trialled for us but there were complications with his registration."

"He came on as a substitution for us against Dundee Utd in pre-season so we know a bit about him and we will need to watch him."

Edinburgh are relatively new to the SPFL but they have some experienced campaigners in their squad.

Slowly but surely they are making progress after four opening defeats were followed by a couple of victories.

The Peterhead manager continued: "Josh Walker, who used to play for Aberdeen, is there and they have the former Celtic striker Craig Beattie."

"They have recently signed Jesus Garcia Tena, who was with Hamilton, so they have a bit of experience through their team and they will be confident after winning their last two games."

Teams news: Simon Ferry, who rarely plays on plastic pitches, may miss out but Jack Leitch and Nicky Riley could return.
