Pre-season update

Wed 01 Jun 2016

Peterhead manager Jim McInally is playing a waiting game as he bids to freshen up his squad for the 2016/17 season.

The Balmoor boss has so far been frustrated in the transfer market, missing out on two signing targets.

But, as the players prepare to return to pre-season training next Tuesday, he’s hopeful of completing the signing of Scott Rumsby,

The 22 year old defender has spent the past three seasons at Stranraer, having begun his career at Aberdeen.

In the main, the squad will be similar to that of last term, with the majority of the players having agreed new contracts with the club.

Shane Sutherland, Leighton McIntosh and Nathan Blockley, however, have yet to commit their futures to Peterhead.

Ally Gilchrist has returned to his parent club St Johnstone and Scott Ferries has been released for a venture in America.

Meanwhile, Peterhead have confirmed their pre-season friendly schedule ahead of the new season.

The Blue Toon will visit Montrose on July 5th before facing Highland League opposition back-to-back.

McInally’s men will travel to Buchan rivals Fraserburgh on July 9th and they will then play Formartine in Pitmedden the following day.

Pre-season fixtures:

Montrose (a) Tues 5th July

Fraserburgh (a) Sat 9th July

Formartine (a) Sun 10th July
