Two players Jim McInally hoped would be part of his squad will be at Balmoor on Saturday - lining up against the Blue Toon.

Ex Peterhead midfielder Jamie Redman is now with Montrose, who make the trip north in League 2.

Veteran Irish defender Sean Dillon is also with the Gable Endies after a failed attempt by McInally to lure him to Aberdeenshire.

Montrose have started the season in fine fashion after racking up 10 points from their first four matches.

Stewart Petrie's men are also buoyed by their victory over Ayr Utd in the IRN-BRU Cup last weekend.

McInally said: "Montrose will be full of confidence, that is for sure."

"In their last two away games, they won at Annan and then Ayr on penalties and, because they only conceded one goal from those two games, they are obviously defending well."

"They have Sean Dillon in their ranks, a player who we tried to sign but he chose to go to Montrose."

"I would have preferred Jamie Redman to stay with us but he wanted to move on to guarantee himself regular first-team football."

"Jamie was a loss to me because he is a great boy and I have got a lot of time for him."

"But he will be at Balmoor on Saturday doing his best to turn us over, along with the rest of the Montrose team so it should be a good game."

"We know we need to win the battles, like we did against Annan last week, and take it from there."

Team news - David McCracken, Nicky Riley, MIkael Ngango Dikobo and Samson Gabriel are definitely sidelined while Jamie Stevenson is also expected to miss out.

However, Jordon Brown could return to the squad after a three-week injury lay-off.
