Allan Smith reckons the best way for Peterhead to recover from their first League 2 loss of the season is to defeat leaders Stirling Albion and join the Binos on nine points.

Jim McInally's men were beaten 3-1 by Stenhousemuir at Ochilview last Saturday ending a fine run of form in all competitions.

Smith insists the Blue Toon will not dwell on that result as they aim to maintain their perfect home record so far.

Smith said: "We have started off really well, winning six of our eight games in the league and cups."

"Last week was a bit of a blip and nobody really performed as they should have but we are looking to bounce back and get back on track."

"Things just did not work out for us against Stenhousemuir, who seem to be our bogey team because we never beat them last season either."

Smith is enjoying a good run in the team having regained full fitness following a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury last year.

The 23 year old former Dunfermline attacker has started all three league games and opened his goalscoring account in the 3-0 win over Elgin a fortnight ago.

Smith added: "At the start of the league season against Annan, Rory was suspended and I got thrown in and was able to perform quite well."

"Hopefully I can get a good run of games as the season progreses, chip in with a few goals and help the team do well because our aim is to win the league."

"I would say I am back to full fitness now. It's just a case of getting my match sharpness back by getting more minutes under my belt."

Team news - Rory McAllister, having missed training in midweek with a troublesome hamstring injury, remains doubtful. Jordon Brown, Mason Robertson and David McCracken could also miss out.
