Cup finalists Peterhead refocus on League 1

Mon 16 Nov 2015

Peterhead are getting ready to return to League 1 duty, days after confirming their place in the Petrofac Training Cup final.

Stranraer are the visitors to Balmoor as the Blue Toon seek a win, which would lift them to sixth in the table and to within a couple of points off the play-offs.

Jim McInally’s men registered a handsome 4-0 victory when the teams last met in August, thanks to a Rory McAllister double and goals from Jordon Brown and Leighton McIntosh.

That stands as Peterhead’s biggest win of the campaign so far, and the heaviest defeat for Brian Reid’s team, who have managed just 10 goals from their 13 league outings.

Since then, the Blue Toon’s progress has been hindered by draws. In fact, they have shared the points on six occasions, more than any other club.

As for their Stair Park opponents, they were pipped to the title by Morton last season but have found the going much more difficult this term.

They have lost their last four fixtures and sit second bottom. Yet they are just a win away from Peterhead in what is a tightly packed table.

The Blue Toon, who can leapfrog Forfar, are able to call upon the services of Cammy Kerr, who returns to the squad after completing a two match ban.

Kick off is 8pm so come and cheer on, and honour, the boys in blue after their Hampden heroics!
