A second consecutive goalless draw maintained Peterhead’s unbeaten run in the Betfred Cup.

However, Dundee earned the bonus point after winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 4-2 to give them the edge in Group D.

Peterhead could have won this low-key contest at Dens Park with Ben Armour passing up a great chance in the second half.

But just like the Inverness Caley Thistle stalemate, it went to spot-kicks although this time Jim McInally’s men were not as accurate.

Jack Leitch shot too high while Jamie Stevenson’s effort clipped the crossbar and went over.

Dundee’s Paul McGowan, much like the Dee’s penalty win over Cove in midweek, slotted in the decisive kick.

The Blue Toon move on to six points, which gives them a good chance of going through if they pick up points in their last match against Raith at Kirkcaldy.
