Queen’s Park 0-2 Peterhead

Celebrations at the national stadium as Peterhead clinched the League 2 title with a fine 2-0 victory against Queen’s Park.

Jack Leitch made the difference.  The attacking midfielder has chipped in with some important goals during the run-in but none more so than his first half double, which ensured there would be no Hampden heartache.

Leitch headed in a Jamie Stevenson cross in the 26th minute to settle any Blue Toon nerves.

The former Airdrie youngster scored again just before half time, rounding off a neat move involving Scott Brown and Ryan Dow to put the visitors firmly in command.

Following last week’s dramatic finish when Peterhead agonisingly conceded a stoppage time equaliser against Stirling Albion, they were determined to get the job done at the second attempt.

Therefore, the second half was about seeing the game out and that was achieved with minimal fuss in front of around 200 visiting fans, who made up the near 1,000 attendance.

Huge congratulations to Jim McInally, his staff and his team.
