Goalless in Edinburgh but result favours leaders Peterhead

Sat 23 Mar 2019

Edinburgh City 0

Peterhead 0

There were no goals between the top two in the capital but the draw was a more favourable outcome for Peterhead than title rivals Edinburgh.

The sharing of the points maintained the Blue Toon’s cushion at the League 2 summit with another game ticked off.

Rory McAllister had several efforts on target in the first half but he found home goalkeeper Callum Antell in fine form.

Antell also denied Willie Gibson with an effort, which was destined for the top corner.

For Edinburgh, forward Scott Shepherd tested Greg Fleming just before half time.

In addition, Brad Donaldson nodded narrowly wide early in the second period and likewise their leading marksman, Blair Henderson.

But in front of more than 1,000 suppoters, 0-0 was how it ended and the result kept Peterhead five points clear going into the last half a dozen fixtures.

Clyde, meanwhile, scored in stoppage time to edge out Annan and move a point behind Edinburgh.

The Bully Wee, who were recently docked four points for fielding an ineligible player, still have to face the top two before the season is out.
