Peterhead’s winning run ended by Queen’s Park

Sat 10 Nov 2018

Peterhead suffered defeat at Hampden as Queen’s Park scored either side of the interval to end the Blue Toon’s seven-game winning streak.

Ciaran Summers claimed both goals and the result meant Edinburgh City seized top spot again following their win over Albion Rovers.

Jim McInally’s men were unchanged from last week’s victory over Rovers but they found themselves behind in the 27th minute.

Summers struck a free-kick past Greg Fleming, his left-foot effort nestling into the bottom corner of the net.

There were opportunities for Peterhead to draw level but when Summers netted again six minutes into the second half, the Spiders were firmly in command.

Summers, from out on the left wing, deceived Fleming with what appeared to be a cross.

Queen’s Park finished the game with 10-men after Dominic McLaren was dismissed with six minutes remaining for picking up two yellow cards in quick succession.

But this was a rare League 2 off-day for the Blue Toon, who crashed to just their second loss of the season.
