Peterhead kept up their 100% away record with a hard-fought victory against Clyde at Broadwood.

Substitute Derek Lyle scored two second half goals after Scott Brown had given the Blue Toon an interval lead.

Both sides had a player sent off but Jim McInally’s men headed home with the points to stay hot on the heals of League 2 leaders Edinburgh City, who won at Stirling.

Brown fired in the opener in the 20th minute, shooting into the bottom corner with a fine effort from outside the penalty area.

Mick Dunlop was shown a red card for a challenge on David Goodwillie in the 62nd minute, prompting Cammy Eadie to take the place of Ross Kavanagh.

But Clyde’s numerical advantage lasted just three minutes as Tom Lang was given his marching orders for picking up a second yellow.

Lyle had just replaced Rory McAllister at this point and the veteran striker came up with a clinical finish in the 73rd minute to put Peterhead in command.

When Paddy Boyle put the ball through his own net in the 78th minute, the home team were given encouragement but Lyle bent in a beauty from distance with six minutes remaining to make it six straight wins for the visitors.
