Peterhead impressed in their League 2 win over Elgin, putting three goals past their former Highland League rivals to stay second.

Ryan Dow netted his second goal in as many games with a header just before half time.

The second half was dominated by the home team and goals from Rory McAllister and Russell McLean gave the Blue Toon a fully deserved 3-0 victory.

Elgin rarely threatened, although the first period was an even contest until Dow struck in the 42nd minute.

Following some neat passing, Jamie Stevenson crossed from the right and the on loan Ross County man stooped to nod past Kyle Gourlay.

After the interval, it was attack versus defence as Peterhead put on their most convincing Balmoor display of the season.

There were neat moves, which produced openings and chances, and once McAllister glanced in their second in the 53rd minute, the points were as good as in the bag.

Willie Gibson sent in a corner and McAllister got across his marker to direct a front-post header into the net.

The Blue Toon captain had opportunities to score again but found Gourlay in good form while Scott Brown was also foiled by the visiting goalkeeper.

McLean came off the bench to complete the scoring with four minutes left.  Paddy Boyle’s left wing cross was missed by Derek Lyle but fellow sub McLean was on hand to rifle a 12 yard shot into the bottom corner.
