Peterhead 0-2 Dundee

Peterhead rounded off their Betfred Cup campaign with a solid showing against Dundee, who ultimately had too much for the Blue Toon.

Both goals came in the second half, Karl Madianga opening the scoring moments after the interval and Jean Mendy wrapping up the victory in added time.

The result ensured the Blue Toon finished Group D at the bottom and without a goal.

There were, at least, some encouraging signs after a sorry display against Stirling last Saturday.

Aaron Norris and Russell McLean came back into the starting line-up as Willie Gibson and Scott Brown made way..

Peterhead gave a good account in the first period, with Ross Kavanagh twice testing Elliot Parish, who also denied McLean from close range.

However, the Buchan outfit were undone four minutes after the restart when Jesse Curran found Paul McGowan and he set up Madianga, whose effort from the edge of the box nestled into the net.

Jim McInally’s men kept battling and believing and Dundee were never safe until Mendy slotted past Greg Fleming from 14 yards in the dying seconds after a neat flick from substitute Craig Wighton.
