Stenny hoodoo over as Peterhead stretch winning run

In-form Peterhead ended their wretched record against Stenhousemuir by rallying from a goal behind to continue their excellent run in League 2.

Rory McAllister scored twice more to take his terrific tally to 26 for the season before Mason Robertson and Russell McLean notched.

The victory shifted the Blue Toon eight points clear of third-placed Stenny and still within a point of current leaders Montrose.

It was not the best of starts for the visitors at Ochilview, Robertson penalised for a 28th minute foul on Alan Cook and Mark McGuigan tucked away the spot-kick.

Stenny would have hoped to get to half-time ahead but they conceded a penalty of their own seconds before the interval when McGuigan upended Jason Brown and McAllister did the rest from 12 yards.

McAllister caught the Warriors freezing cold right at the start of the second period, the prolific marksman lashing a left-foot shot beyond Chris Smith.

It was quite a turnaround for Peterhead, who netted again in the 72nd minute through Robertson’s close-range header from WIllie Gibson’s corner.

Substitute Russell McLean, who came on for Allan Smith near the end of the first half, guided home a header with 10 minutes left to put the seal on a sixth straight league victory.
