PETERHEAD 3-0 EDINBURGH CITY

Peterhead capitalised on their extra man to defeat Edinburgh City at Balmoor and continue their fine form.

Rory McAllister took his scoring tally to 20 for the season by bagging a double while Jordon Brown came off the bench to net for the second game in a row.

All that after Chris McKee was red carded for the visitors, who gave a decent account of themselves, particularly in the first half.

McKee, two minutes after the interval, pulled down McAllister when the striker was clean through on goal.  The spot=kick was dispatched by the Blue Toon top scorer and from there, the game was much more straightforward for Jim McInally's men.

McAllister will feel he should have added another in the 63rd minute when he intercepted a short backpass from Craig Beattie. The 30 year old opted to try and clip the ball over Calum Antell but the visiting goalkeeper read his mind and made the save..

That was the second one-on-one opportunity that McAllister had passed up, having done so in the first period as well, but he was clinical in the 72nd minute, stabbing home from close range to put Peterhead two-up.

Moments later, Brown got in on the scoring act, picking up the pieces after Jack Leitch's shot broke the way of the substitute six yards out.

There were further chances in the closing stages but this was a good day for the Aberdeenshire team, with the top two, Montrose and Stirling Albion, failing to win their games.

It means that victory over Stirling on Tuesday would see the Blue Toon become the new league leaders.
