Another away win for Peterhead as Albion are beaten

Sun 23 Oct 2016

Back-to-back away wins moved Peterhead up a place to eighth in League 1 after they edged out Albion Rovers in Coatbridge.

A scrappy game was heading for a stalemate until Jordon Brown struck in the latter stages.

Brown, taking the place of Nicky Riley following last week's win at Airdrie, made the most of his starting role to net his third goal of the season.

At the other end, Graeme Smith's contribution was as important, the big goalkeeper twice denying Ryan Wallace.

With the game lacking clear scoring opportunties or flow, the Blue Toon would probably have been content to head up the road with a draw.

But one point turned into three when Brown struck from close range with a rising shot from Riley's assist in the 78th minute.

Joy for Jim McInally's men, who enjoyed a first clean sheet on their travels since December.

They will aim to continue their revival and climb up the table when Stranraer visit next weekend, the first of two games in a row at Balmoor.
