Peterhead forced to settle for a point at Stenhousemuir

A couple of points dropped for Peterhead, who surrendered a two-goal half-time lead to draw against bottom of the table Stenhousemuir.

Goals from Nicky Riley and Kevin Dzierzawski had put the Blue Toon firmly in control at Ochilview.

But back came the Warriors and after Jamie McCormack pulled one back midway through the second period, Fraser Kerr restored parity with 12 minutes remaining.

Deep disappointment for Jim McInally's team, who slipped a place to ninth in the table, just above their winless opponents.

Content with what he saw in the win over Queen's Park last week, McInally fielded a near identical starting line-up.

The enforced change was at the heart of the defence as Scott Rumsby took the place of the injured Scott Ross.

Riley, who earlier this week spoke of his desire to get on the scoresheet more often, gave the visitors a 17th minute lead to net his second in as many games.

It was Peterhead's first away goal of the season in League 1 and before Stenny had time to regroup, they found themselves further behind as Dzierzawski notched soon after.

A two-goal cushion was ample to see off the Spiders last Saturday but it was not enough against Brown Ferguson's side.

The hosts reduced the arrears in the 68th minute through McCormack and the Balmoor outfit did not heed the warning as Kerr levelled 10 minutes later.

In the end, it was a familiar tale to the Albion Rovers game last month where Peterhead ended up drawing from a winning position.
