Frustration in Fife for the Blue Toon.

Peterhead let slip a lead to leave Methil empty-handed.

Jordon Brown's goal was cancelled out by Jonathon Page before a Paul McManus penalty gave Group A leaders East Fife the points.

Jim McInally made two changes from the team, which beat Forfar, with Brown and Scott Ross coming in for Nathan Blockley and Jamie Redman.

However, Redman was required almost immediately as Simon Ferry lasted just 90 seconds due to an injury.

Brown neatly slotted home the opener in the 26th minute but the Blue Toon's advantage lasted just 12 minutes as Page headed past Graeme Smith after the visitors failed to clear a corner.

Five minutes into the second half, East Fife went ahead. McManus tucked away his spot kick after Kevin Dzierzawski was adjudged to have fouled Ross Brown.

McInally's men tried to find a way back into the match and Rory McAllister went closest with an effort, which hit the woodwork.

But the points went to East Fife, who have now racked up eight and look near certainties to progress to the knock out phase.

Dundee, who thumped Dumbarton 6-2, climb above Peterhead into second spot going into Tuesday's clash at Balmoor.
