Wed 19 Aug 2015

Falkirk - Smith (13'), Watson (20'), Cooper (76')

Peterhead - McAllister (22', 27', 43', 81', 87' (pen))

It was an astounding clash in the Petrofac Training Cup second round at the Falkirk Stadium as the Blue Toon's talismanic frontman Rory McAllister scored five goals to win the tie.

Following an early penalty miss, the Bairns took the lead thanks to David Smith's volleyed effort before Paul Watson put the home side two goals to the good within 20 minutes.

But then McAllister grabbed the Championship bull by the horns and netted three times before the break - the first a fine lob over Graham Bowman, the second an easy tap in, and the third a deft angled finish.

After the break normality was restored when Alex Cooper came of the bench to equalise for Falkirk - Scottish Cup finalists last season - and the merry band of travelling Blue Toon fans feared that the home side would plough on the win the game.

But McAllister had other ideas - not one to rest on his laurels and eager to steal the headlines, the 28-year-old stunned every spectator in the ground with a 40-yard strike to put his side in front again before Will Vaulks was booked for a clumsy challenge from a corner late on allowing McAllister to stroke home his fifth.

The Blue Toon hitman has now netted nine times in the first fivve games of this season - equalling his tally from last year, scored over a 36 game period.

Rory McAllister - take a bow.
