"Ryan is a player I know very well" Jim McInally comments on the new signing, "and hopefully this temporary addition to the squad will see us over the current suspension crisis we face."

PLATINUM DRAW AUGUST

August's Platinum Club Draw was made this week at Balmoor Stadium. The lucky winners are as follows:

£500   013   Denise Willox

£200   143   True Blue Tooners

£100   166   David Bruce

JIM MCINALLY DIV3 MANAGER OF MONTH

Jim McInally has been named manager of the month for August in Division Three after it ended with Peterhead top of the table. The 48-year-old former Nottingham Forest, Dundee United and Scotland midfielder is in his second season with Peterhead having previously managed Sligo Rovers, Morton and in Division Three with East Stirlingshire.

The Blue Toon started the month by giving SPL new boys Dundee a tough cup match in the Scottish Communities League Cup, only defeated on penalties, before coming so close to defeating Rangers, who scrambled and injury time equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Balmoor Stadium.

The Bloo Toon followed that with a 2-0 win away to Clyde and a 1-0 victory at home to Queen's Park. A 2-0 win over Montrose on 1 September puts them a point ahead of Clyde before the international break

PETERHEAD 2 MONTROSE 0

Rory McAllister might have notched both goals as the Blue Toon eased their way past Montrose, but manager Jim McInally says the former Brechin City man will send him to an early grave.

McAllister notched twice after the interval as the Blue Toon beat Montrose 2-0, but passed up a glorious chance between his strikes to leave McINally raging.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally was a relieved man after seeing Rory McAllister net the penalty that kept his side level on points with Elgin City at the top of the Third Division.

The manager admits that he thought he'd put a hex on his top scorer, after talking up his penalties during the week.

He said "I thought I’d cursed Rory with the penalty because I was talking through the week about how good his penalties are, so I couldn’t watch when he took it!

"I didn’t think it was going to be our day because we’d missed a number of chances, but it was a great result because Queen’s Park are a good team and they’ll be up there at the end of the season."

A full match report is now available.

PETERHEAD 2 RANGERS 2

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally was understandably delighted with the efforts of his players in their 2-2 draw with Rangers, although he admitted he didn't expect to come so close to a shock victory over the Glasgow club.

Goals from Rory McAllister and Scott McLaughlin had put the Blue Toon in front after their visitors had taken the lead through Barrie McKay, but Andy Little bundled hom from close range in the final minute to ensure a share of the points.

McInally said "I never thought I'd see a dressing room as disappointed as I have today after drawing 2-2 with Rangers. I'm really proud that we went a goal behind and didn't succumb to it. We showed great quality and had we won the game you woulcn't have complained.

Balmoor was close to capacity for the visit of Rangers

"I said at half-time that I hope you've recognised what went on in the first half.We defended well and got in about Rangers, but we didn't take part in the game on the ball."

The manager was pleased with the way his side competed against their opponents in the first half, but was delighted to see them get on the ball and attack more after the interval.

"I told them to take part in the game. I asked Dean Cowie how many fouls he'd made - none - and the first thing he did after the break was nail the guy Black. Everybody came to life and took part in the game.

"I know that when our players participate with the ball we're a handful, and we showed that.

Boss McInally at the heart of a media scrum

"It's a fantastic start to the season, but it would have been great to get the three points. If you look at the save Alexander has made from Rory. I was celebrating. Even when it went to 2-2, we had a great chance with a great ball across the box."

A full match report is now available.

PFC CLUB STATEMENT

Ahead of the SFL meeting to be held at Hampden on Friday 13th July, Peterhead Football Club would like to clarify the board's stance on admitting a new Rangers Club into the Scottish Football League.

We have now received proposals that have been thrashed out between the SFA, SPL and our own SFL a mere 36 hours prior to Friday's meeting. Whilst we have always stated that we would welcome proposals for league reconstruction independent of the Rangers crisis, we are left with a sense of wonderment at many of the newly proposed changes to the League; changes that were deemed wholly unworkable prior to Newco Rangers application to join the SFL after expulsion from the SPL.

Although we are to come under severe pressure from bodies outwith the SFL to accept these fast-tracked changes to accomodate at Newco team and to hail this proposal as a 'blue print to safeguard the future of Scottish Football', we must retain our stance and those of the majority of our fans to vote NO.

We still believe that to maintain fairness in our game and to restore faith in Scottish Football there is no alternative but to admit a Newco team into Division 3. We understand the ramifications of this as laid out by the SFA and understand that there will be financial implications for all clubs should this be the outcome. However, although there may be tough times ahead for Scottish Football, we believe we can weather the storm.

Although football clubs from all leagues rely heavily on media revenue and sponsorship to survive, it is the fans that are the heart of the club. Our fans have made their feelings very clear over this issue and we have listened and taken on board all comments. We hope that voting to admit a Newco team into Division 3 will unite fans to vote with their feet to support their local team and help preserve our Scottish game.

Hi All,

Sorry for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks but I have been away on holiday.

Firstly, I would like to say sorry for rubbing any of our supporters up the wrong way for my opinions on the Rangers situation. Place believe my when I say my opinions are not based on my upbringing or my background - they are purely selfish-for-football reasons. My opinions are based on past experiences when I managed against teams like Gretna in the 2nd Division and more recently when Livingston were put into Division 3 after we had already invested in our squad for that season.

In both cases I felt that those imbalances cost us potential titles. Basically, what I'm saying is that my opinion isn't balanced on what is good for Rangers or Livingston or any other team that finds themselves in self-inflicted financial situations. It is based on what is good for our football club.

I read guys like Craig Burley and I'm totally shocked with his ignorance and lack of respect for good hardworking people at clubs like this. We have a board of directors who go above and beyond the call of duty to bring finance in to the club, even going as far as putting on a concert and then organisising and selling it tirelessley. I have friends in the game who wonder why PFC do things like the concert and I tell them that part time football clubs solely rely on fund raising and supporters buying season tickets, hospitality, player sponsorships, strips, scarfs etc and not tv money from Sky and 4 visits from the Old Firm. How many Chairmen or Chief Executives in the SPL have actually put their own personal wealth into their clubs? Not many, I suspect. Guys like Burley are ignorant and should stick to commentary on TV.

Now to update you on the football. Since I last spoke to you we have had the boys training hard and last night we had a close door game against Cove Rangers which went really well. We have boys that are at different levels of fitness and therefore I'll try and balance out their game time with training sessions to get their fitness levels up to where we want them to be.

We have also strengthened our squad with the signing of Stephen Maguire and goal keeper Michael Andrews from Montrose. Stephen is a player I know well and had a season in junior football last year which I think will have done him good. He is a striker, not unlike Dennis, and hopefully he will bring competition to the other strikers which I felt we needed.

Michael again is a boy I know well; he was my keeper at the shire and had a terrific season for us on loan from Falkirk. He was then gutted to have been released from Falkirk after their relegation and I'm sure that was a factor in his loss of confidence last season. Hopefully, him knowing that I know his qualities will help him get back to being the keeper that he can be.

We have also added young Shaun Robertson and Greg Alexander and we'll see over the next couple of week if we're going to add to the squad.

Jim
