After-match thoughts

Peterhead manager Jim McInally:

“When you defend as poorly as we did, you can lose a game like that.”

“It was disappointing how easily Stenhousemuir got their crosses in, from our throw-ins.”

“I know it got to the stage where we did not have many defensive-minded players on the pitch but that is not really an excuse.”

“Generally I thought we played okay but everytime we play Stenhousemuir, there seems to be a manic five minutes.”

“This time we lost two players through injury and illness and although we did well to twice come back, we shot ourselves in the foot with our defending.”

“It was frustrating, especially with the results elsewhere, and we have all crowded up again.”

Stenhousemuir manager Brown Ferguson:

“It was scrappy at times but it was a good entertaining match for people coming to watch.”

“We have been pegged back on four occasions this season when we have been in front and that could have been in the players’ minds.”

“But I am just really pleased that they came back not once but twice in a positive manner and managed to get their noses in front again.”

“Their mentality really pleased me so I thought it was a deserved three points but there was very little in it.”

“I know it has been mentioned a few times that we seem to do well against Peterhead.”

“They are a good team with good players and it is one of those fixtures where you need to be on your A-game to come and play against them.”
