PETERHEAD 1-0 ANNAN

Post-match reaction

Peterhead manager Jim McInally:

“It was a big three points.”

“When it is only 1-0, you can be guaranteed something will happen in front of goal for the opposition.”

“In a normal day, I think Greg Fleming would have been out sweeping for one of their shots which hit the post, but there was a lot of uncertainty due to the strength of the wind.”

“We rode our luck at times, although we did have a couple of opportunities to pick Annan off, but overall it was a good win for us.”

“Peter Murphy has got his team working really hard but I have got to credit my players for being able to beat them three times.”

“It is not easy to do that in such a short space of time because the two teams get to know each other well.”

Annan player-boss Peter Murphy:

“I am disappointed we have nothing to show for our efforts.”

“I am also really disappointed with the way we conceded the goal, giving away a cheap free-kick.”

“If you give the likes of Willie Gibson or Rory McAllister a free opportunity to shoot at goal, they are more than likely going to take it especially when they have a gale-force wind behind them.”

“But we have hit the post twice near the end, after striking the bar in the first half, and we put a lot of pressure on Peterhead in the second half.”
