Peterhead go for a third straight win over Annan this season when the teams square up at Balmoor.

The Blue Toon were 2-1 victors at Galabank on the opening day of the League 2 campaign and then knocked Peter Murphy’s side out of the IRN-BRU Cup.

The Aberdeenshire team will go into the match confident of a treble after scoring 13 goals in their last two outings against Colville Park and Clyde.

Peterhead number two Davie Nicholls said: “We should take a lot of confidence from last week’s win over Clyde, even though we did not start that game too well.”

“We grew into it and got stronger as the match went on and to score four goals away home was very pleasing.”

“It is going to be a tough game this weekend, right enough, because Annan are resolute and they defend well.”

“When we went down there at the start of the season, Annan got their goal and made it difficult for us.”

“I think we got lucky on the day by scoring twice late on but the boys are confident after a couple of good victories.”

Peterhead’s three-pronged attack were all on the scoresheet at Broadwood last Saturday as Allan Smith, Russell McLean and Rory McAllister boosted their own tallies.

Simon Ferry is set to be restored to the team against Annan, having not been risked on Clyde’s artificial pitch.

Nicholls added: “The gaffer wants these pleasant selection problems every week.”

“He wants players chapping at his door and saying they are disappointed at not playing.”

“What we ask of the lads is to make a contribution, even those who are not in the starting line-up. You need a good squad to compete and I think we have got that.”
