IRN-BRU CUP 2ND ROUND
PETERHEAD 2-0 ANNAN

Peterhead manager Jim McInally

"I'm delighted with the win, even though it was not a particularly good game,"

"The wind was a bit of a factor but with new players in the team, we got the message on to them to play the conditions and not to try anything clever."

"I thought in the second half, with the wind at our backs, we were nice and professional and we got our goals and generally I thought we did okay."

"We worked hard and did not concede too many chances to Annan in open play, which was pleasing."

"Russell McLean and Allan Smith had to work away hard up front.  Russell was not having the best of games but he had the bottle to take the penalty, which shows the confidence he has in himself."

"But it was good to get that second goal because when Rory McAllister and Willie Gibson came on, you could see that everybody got a lift from that."

Annan player/manager Peter Murphy

"The wind was quite strong out there so we knew it would be a game of two halves."

"Peterhead pinned us back after half time and to give away the penalty in the manner in which did changed the game."

"We struggled to get out after that, although we did have a couple of breakaway chances, which did not come to anything."

"But it was a mistake which led to the penalty and then we lost another goal from a Peterhead corner and you cannot give a player like McAllister that much space in the box."

"It was a long journey up here but the standards my players have set have been a lot higher that what we saw here."
