21 year old defender Jason Brown has signed a one year contract with Peterhead after impressing on trial.

Brown, the younger brother of Blue Toon midfielder Jordon, was a free agent having been released by Inverness Caley Thistle.

He spent time on loan at Cove Rangers last season and scored a stoppage-time winning goal against Formartine in the Highland League Cup final in April.

Brown made his Peterhead debut at full-back in the 1-0 win over East Fife in the Betfred Cup.

Balmoor boss Jim McInally said: "Jason is probably a better centre half."

"You can see with his aggression that he can play in the middle of the defence and he played there for us against Dundee Utd last Sunday."

"It's good that we have got options there because David McCracken, at nearly 36, will need to be rested for some games."

"We have still got Scott Ross to come in as well.  Scott is still getting up to speed with his fitness."

"All that I'm looking for now is a left-back.  We had a trialist playing there against Keith in midweek so we are hoping to get him in."
