Peterhead entertain East Fife on Saturday in their opening match of the Betfred Cup.

The Group B fixture will give home fans an early chance to see a new-look Blue Toon following the arrival of several new faces.

The Fifers, under new boss Darren Young, are familar opponents for JIm McInally's side and came out on top at the same stage 12 months ago in Methil.

Both teams racked up a commendable eight points from their four games last year but it was Peterhead, who progressed from the group on goal difference, following a marathon penalty shoot-out win at Dumbarton.

The format, for the second year in a row, sees the eight group winners advancing to the knock-out phase along with the best four runners-up.

Three points are awarded for a win and a point for a draw, although games which end all square go straight to spot-kicks with an additional point up for the grabs for the victors.
